Manuscript document in French, signed by Bao Dai, the last ruling emperor of the Nguyen dynasty of Vietnam: "Peace among nations, reconciliation among men of all races, what finer ideal! We must be grateful to the World Peace League for working on that noble task. All goodhearted men must lend it their assistance and support its efforts. Bao Dai Emperor of Annam." Docketed on verso. The World League of Peace was an organization set up in Switzerland by Georges Dejean following World War I. Its goal was to assemble a collection of manuscripts from current leaders or other notable persons, commenting on the idea of world peace. Compiled over a seven year period, the anthology became known as the Pax Mundi.
